Shorter Summer Hours

Beauty and the Beast will be closed on Saturdays through the summer and one hour earlier Monday through Friday.  This worked out nicely for us during the Covid slow down the last couple of years.  It was a great help to cut down on the electricity bills during the summer heat.  The shorter hours also gave us a chance to enjoy some fun in the sun and recharge our physical and mental batteries.

We thank you for your understanding and any imposition this change may cause.   Get outside or go see something new because that’s what I plan on doing.  Enjoy your Summer!

Easter Bunnies!

As always, you know we’re busy at Beauty & the Beast Costumes, Chattanooga when Christmas hangs around until Valentine’s day.   After almost 2 years of very little business and plenty of time to goof off, it’s been crazy busy with Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s, and many themed costume parties PLUS more Fall/Winter school plays than we have ever had before.  Word must be getting out that we’re the best place in town, also, the only year-round costume shop left in the area.  With shipping issues and supplier problems galore, some of our inventory is getting a little picked over….   But NEVER FEAR!   The EASTER BUNNY is HERE!

Times have been tough for a lot of folks out there, so while everything else keeps going up in price, our bunnies are still the same $55 Rental rate that they have been for over 20 years.

Save your Eyes!

It’s that time of year again when people are looking to purchase colored contact lenses for the spookiest look ever.   Unfortunately, the window of opportunity on those has probably closed.  Here is your annual reminder from the FDA:

“All contact lenses must be prescribed by a doctor, including decorative lenses. Any contact lenses that are not prescribed by a doctor are illegal and could cause you harm.”

Crazy Mixed up Halloween

This year’s window theme is Crazy Mixed up Halloween, but it could also be “Keep throwing things at the wall and see what sticks.”  With all of the shipping issues plaguing retailers, all puns intended, 2021 is going to need more people to think outside the box, maybe use what they have, mix up pieces of discount costumes with unusual accessories to come up with something new and different.

While not exactly Politically Correct, this year’s hottest costumes may be Political in nature.  The most recognizable costumed activist of the year has to be the Shaman.  Love him or hate him, everyone knows who it is.  You can copy his unique look with a buffalo hat, a vampire cape, two raccoon caps, some makeup, a toy spear and a flag  bandana.  Wear with a pair of khakis and maybe have a friend draw triangles and a big Thor’s hammer on your chest.

If you’re a little less crafty, you can always grab a Jailbird costume, maybe a wig, and change the number on your chest to the name of your least favorite politician.

You can’t always get what you want…

But if you try sometimes, you just might find.
You just might find, you get what you need!

The immortal words of Keith Richards & Mick Jagger seem to be the anthem for Halloween 2021.   Massive supply chain breakdowns across the country are causing shortages on everything from groceries to *OH NO!* Halloween props and costumes!

Have No FEAR!  Beauty and the Beast is Here.   The joy of being a Real Costume shop is that Beauty and the Beast Costumes, Chattanooga is here all year long.  We have been receiving shipments since June.  While a few odds and ends are still missing, we have massive amounts of inventory in stock.  Come on over to Red Bank and check out what Beauty has in store for you.   And while you’re here, check out the progress our handsome, silver haired Beastie has been up to.

What’s Happening at Beauty and the Beast Costumes?

Life sure has been interesting, hasn’t it?  Last year, through the Covid quarantine, the B&B family started the ball rolling on some huge renovation projects.  For customers, that meant two completely remodeled rooms.  If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Bargain Boutique and the comfortable new Family style Dressing room area, you need to drop in for a peek.

This year, most of the changes are behind the scenes as we continue to clean out and organize our multiple storage rooms.  How does that affect our clientele?   Hopefully, optimizing our inventory will help the staff locate items and aid customers with easy selection.  This year, Beauty and the Beast Costume staff is lowering prices on over half of our child-sized costumes to help ease anxiety for families on tight budgets.   Plus, we are adding a new set of shelves in the Bargain Boutique to accommodate families and minimize sensory overload for those who occasionally feel overwhelmed.

Wow! Surprisingly Busy Spring

So great to have so many last-minute fun school projects.  I hope that everyone had as much fun and excitement as we did!

As everyone tried to fit a year’s worth of events in one month, we at Beauty & the Beast, Chattanooga were happy to lend a hand with several school plays.  The largest production was Shrek, the Musical presented by CCA.  Berean Acadamy finally got the long-awaited Sence and Senceablitlies across the boards.  This year’s Endurance Award has to Mrs. McHenry who directed The Addams’ Family fast on the heels of another Jane Austin period piece at Lake View Fort Oglethorpe.
